Sajeeb Wazed Joy, the PM’s ICT adviser, has received the prestigious ‘ICT for Development Award’ for his outstanding contribution to setting the country on the path of a digital revolution.
Four US institutions—World Organisation of Governance and Competitiveness, Plan Trifinio, Global Fashion for Development and School of Business of University of New Haven—jointly conferred the award on him at a function at a US hotel on Tuesday morning.
Eminent actor Robert Davi handed Joy the award at the gala titled ‘High-level reception in support of the first anniversary of the adoption of the UN sustainable development goals, the importance of ICT competitiveness as a tool for sustainable development’.
The award handed to Mr. Sajeeb Ahmed Wazed on 19th September in New York by Actor Robert Davi at a High-level Reception in support of the First Anniversary of the Adoption of the UNSDGs and the Importance of ICT and Competitiveness as a Tool for Sustainable Development co-organized by the aforesaid entities in the presence of Honorable Prime Minister of Bangladesh H.E. Sheikh Hasina as well as Ministers and high-level political leaders from Bangladesh and other countries, UN senior officials, Heads of International Organizations, Ambassadors, private sector and civil society leaders, celebrities and representatives from major media outlets.
Meanwhile, State Minister for ICT Junaid Ahmed Palak has congratulated Joy on behalf of ICT Division on his receiving the award.
In a message, he said Bangladesh is now becoming a role model in the world in the field of ICT as the government’s all components have become functional to turn the country into ‘Digital Bangladesh’ with the direct leadership of Joy since the PM’s 2008 announcement for the target.
